Strategic Plan


The strategic plan of the Georgia Association for Women in Higher Education will be implemented by the officers, the standing and ad hoc committees, and the membership, as follows:

MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH
  • To increase membership each year.
  • To maintain an accurate membership roll and monitor membership fee status as needed.
  • To create and distribute a recruitment brochure, including a Membership Application (and update as needed on an on-going basis).
  • To develop regional and institutional representatives and a plan for their service as on-site recruiters.
  • To facilitate an annual membership drive initiative.
  • To facilitate a recruitment effort designed to attract membership from:
    1. private institutions of higher education,
    2. vocational training schools, and
    3. K - 12 public and private educators.
  • To identify and recommend life membership status for remarkable and outstanding women educators.
  • To establish an Internet Web site for GAWE to improve communications.
RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
  • To promote the identity the association through utilization of a logo for all publications and correspondence.
  • To publish and distribute a bi-annual association newsletter.
  • To encourage and support membership efforts toward professional and academic publications.
  • To recognize publications of membership through the association newsletter.
  • To utilize the GAWE Web site to publish designated documents as appropriate (e.g., articles, proceedings of conferences, the GAWE newsletter).
CONFERENCES AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
  • To utilize the WENET listserv to exchange professional-development information for women in higher education in Georgia.
  • To collaborate with related professional organizations to support for women educators through promotion of program availability and through collaborative conference offerings.
  • To design programs and workshops for the bi-annual association conferences in response to membership needs assessments.
  • To utilize the GAWE Web site for conference planning and announcements .
LOUISE MCBEE SCHOLARSHIP
  • To maintain the Louise McBee Scholarship Fund with specifically designated funds for the educational support of deserving Georgia women.
  • To implement a development and fund raising plan.
BYLAWS AND STRATEGIC PLANNING
  • To monitor Bylaws and process proposals for amendments as needed prior to semi-annual membership Conferences.
  • To consult with and support officers and committee chairs on planning and implementations of association initiatives and improvements, including:
    1. Establishment of institutional representatives for the association;
    2. Promotion of networking innovations with related associations;
    3. Support lobbying and advocacy efforts, as deemed appropriate by the Executive Council;
    4. To establish GAWE as a non-profit organization to enable charitable deductions for donations to the Louise McBee Scholarship fund.
  • To co-sponsor national, state-wide, or regional support of women's issues as deemed appropriate.
